Panasonic
Panasonic, part of MEI - Matsushita Electric Industries (Japan), is one
of the leading world-wide manufacturers for Audio and Video Electronic.
Panasonic early discovered the importance of Europe as market as well as
in setting standards. From beginning Panasonic very much supported the
specification and standardisation of an open software platform allowing
interoperability across different networks and platforms. Therefore Panasonic strongly favours MHP as the open API standard for
DVB in the future. To further support the MHP process, Panasonic decided
to develop its own MHP stack. Based on the implementation experience
Panasonic could influence the ongoing refinement process.
In order to support the most important interoperability aspect of MHP,
Panasonic became one of the founding members of the MHP Test Consortium
and promotes the development of test cases by financial means and by
participation of its experts. In addition Panasonic contributed the HAVi
test cases to the MHP test suite. Based on all this engagements
Panasonic succeeded to introduce the world’s first MHP certified decoder
in the market.
Panasonic has been joining various interoperability groups and workshops
together with application developers and other implementers in order to
solve interoperability problems. Panasonic expects The MHP knowledge
project to supply a sufficient basis for application developers to
create more new applications and to gain a higher level of
interoperability. Panasonic will therefore fully support the MHP-KDB
project by experience of all related engineers.
